NCHJA NEWS

Thanks to everyone for a successful annual horse show!

To the Members of the NC Hunter Jumper Association,

It is my pleasure to congratulate the Association on a job well done at the 36th Annual NCHJA Annual Benefit Horse Show.  The week was full of summer fun, great hospitality, and fierce competition.  Our benefit show was successful in benefiting the Norah Morris Memorial Scholarship and NC State College of Veterinary Medicine Scholarship Endowment.  Thank you to all who attended and supported our Association and scholarships.

Many volunteers put in countless hours of intense work into the planning and execution of the success we had throughout the week.  Thank you all for your dedication to our horse show and our Association.

As we look to grow and improve this Annual event in the years to come, the Board of Directors and the 2011 Horse Show Committee is seeking your feedback from your experiences’ at this year’s show.  Please complete the “Show Evaluation and Feedback” form found on www.NCHJA.com or simply submit your thoughts via e-mail to nchja@nc.rr.com.

Thank you to everyone who was involved with our show as an exhibitor, volunteer, staff member, or friend.  Your efforts and dedication are greatly appreciated.

Still room in the July clinic at Randolph College in Virginia, with Randolph's JT Tallon - the winningest coach in the history of collegiate riding, and Matt Arrigon of Lynchburg College...
Do you know a rider interested in college equestrian?  Here’s a chance for riders and parents to work directly with experienced college coaches to get help with their college search.  We help riders find teams and coaches find riders!
EQUESTRIAN TALENT SEARCH  wants to do for high school riders what football and basketball coaches camps have done for those sports. “Combines” allow young athletes to be taught, seen, and evaluated by college coaches in intensive weekend instructional / competition clinics.  Equestrian Talent Search is the clearing house for young riders and their parents to get information to help them understand exactly what college equestrian is about, how to become involved, and how to find a program that is a good fit.

During the past three years, we've helped dozens of seniors find spots on top college equestrian teams like Virginia Intermont, Kentucky, Centenary, Oklahoma State, Hollins, SMU, Texas A&M, Charleston, Brown, Baylor, Cornell, Skidmore, Randolph, Lynchburg, Kansas State, Sweet Briar, Findlay, Georgia, Fresno State, South Dakota State, Delaware State, Virginia Tech, Mount Holyoke, Vanderbilt, and many others.  Many have earned scholarships worth anywhere from a few bucks to a full ride!  Some coaches come to watch, but that's not really how it works.  We keep our clinics small so we can get to know each kid personally, enabling us to use their riding assessment to help them narrow down their college choices to teams that would suit them.  Many kids end up going to schools that they hadn't even considered, after we suggested they check it out.  I can open doors for you with the coaches at the colleges that interest you.
